I really like this painting The composition is great and is organized in a triangular fashion. In this sense, it creates a good distribution of weight throughout the scene and also directs the viewer's eyes nicely from the foreground, then middle ground, and then the background, which orchestrates storytelling.
The use of atmospheric perspective is also visible in this piece although, not as strong as your other pieces. Here, Rarity, Sweetie belle, Applejack, and Applebloom have nice tonality in perspective. It's just that Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo in the background stand out too much because they're a little bit too saturated. This breaks the flow of tonal shift from foreground, middle ground, then background, unless your intentions were to focus on Rainbow and Scootaloo first. If there were blended a little bit into the background, this piece will be stronger (not saying that this isn't strong already).
Overall, astoundingly nice work I've always admired your work and style. They're really unique and aesthetically pleasing. I look forward to your next one.
P.S. Try to avoid tangents if you can. An example of this would be the top of the bucket that seems to be running through the bottom edge of the sandbox under Applebloom's hoof. Tangents can be distracting and can pull away from your artwork.
Mmm I'll make an exception Holi, I dont usually criticize In my opinion it is your best work u've done so far realized about MLP, the play of shadows and highlights are well made. I love the bright blue light you added at the edges, gives more realze to the illuminations, keep doing that in your next drawing, that looks really good. Moreover, the facial expressions are very expressive, really I think they're having great, and all the colors makes me feel relax and...happy , trust me when I say you have magic Holi. It makes me happy to see how they enjoy it with their sisters, even Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo, I'm sure she would like to have her as a sister . The foreground, Rarity and Sweetie Belle...I have no words to describe that feeling, you know when words are not necessary? this is the case, when you know your sister is there..with you, that would give everything for you... thank you for this wonderful work!!
I used to love moments like these when me and my sisters and cousins were younger; I was the oldest of the bunch. I loved just seeing them enjoying each others company and I would love to play along. Now that we're older, we do it less often, but we still cherish these moments.
Aww~ this is perfect! hehe nice to see the girls spend quality time like this with the girls <3 RD makes such a great Big Sister surrogate to Scoots. And look at Rarity's attentiveness to Sweetie playing with her toys <3
Gosh, I remember when these used to be a common sight in parks. Now... a lot of the ones that used to have great sandboxes and such have been defiled and too many shady characters have made parents avoid some of the places I had quite fund memories of. It makes me pretty sad thinking about it. Nothing like playing with your GI Joe's and Voltron toys in a sandbox with your friends or having your mom push you on the swing sets.
Why do people have to do mean spirited things like breaking up a park's swings and steal and break hoops and leave dangerous things in sandboxes? Why can't we see more of this!? These things weren't just exclusive to fantasy and beautiful works like this.
Sorry for getting so depressing. Great work Holivi. Simply adorable.
